Update of Exstream from version 5 to version 9

The customer is an international finance company with branches in 18 countries and strong presence in Europe and Japan. Its main business is insurance, pension funds, investment and banking products. With over 14,000 employees worldwide it ranks among the largest international players in the market.
The Polish brand which acts as an independent unit within the group used OpenText Exstream solution to communicate with its customers. Besides providing information to customers the CCM system needs to meet all applicable legislative requirements. This is what makes it one of the key business systems.
With the nearing end of support for version 5 the company chose to update its system to (at the time) the most recent version 9. The project was to be completed in six months and one of the key requirements was to preserve continuity and ensure a seamless transition to the new version right from the deployment.
OpenText turned directly to Contally as the only supplier in the region having experience with version 5 of their system and with above-standard experience in updating Exstream. What was unusual about this update was the need to update the system in just six months over four main versions of versions two of which (version 6 and 8) involved a significant change of system architecture.
We have managed to complete the project within the set deadline thanks to the internal system of Contally allowing to automate many elements of the process. This system can load different types of documents in all versions of Exstream and highlight the visual or functional changes of the document in its different versions. The new settings can be adjusted later on the basis of the automated feedback from the system.
The main challenge with this customer was to update the system while transitioning over multiple system architectures. On our part, these changes required a special approach to transformation of documents and modules. Thanks to the professional experience of the Contally team, its rich experience with different system versions and the internal update management solution we completed this update in record time while meeting all criteria.
Following the go-live the system meets all requirements and produces perfect quality documents.
